Joyride Laboratories has revealed via IndieDB an interesting release schedule for its recently announced platformer Nikki and the Robots. Instead of releasing the game all at once, Joyride will roll out the game’s two modes over five separate releases, with all content scheduled to be out by the end of 2010.
First off, the dev plans on rolling out the game’s “Edit Mode,” a fully playable version of Nikki featuring various levels, a level editor, and online functions. This will be offered as free software under LGPL and Creative Commons. Expect to see the mode sooner than later.
Then, later this year, Joyride will release “Story Mode” over four seperate episodes that will be available at the cost of “a rather small amount of money.” The mode will tell the adventure around Nikki, Dr. Lacroix and (of course) the robots.
More details have been promised to arrive soon, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any juicy details to share.
